Resources

Rock Solid LogoRock Solid clubs are designed to assist churches in catering for their youth, in particular their P6-S1 age group, using a fast-moving and constantly updated programme.

The programmes were originally created by New Zealand Youth for Christ and adapted into one 3-year program for use in the UK. Since the first club in Scotland started in 1996 at Aberchirder, the popularity of Rock Solid has grown rapidly, and there are currently clubs throughout Aberdeenshire.

Rock Solid is a tool by which a local congregation can further effective youth work in their community. It is a fast moving, action packed resource, which is based around a different theme each week. There are a selection of wacky games based around the week's theme, including a more detailed look at the issues involved, and what the Bible says on the topic. NESYFC works in partnership with each host church, providing training, leaders manuals, and any other resources required for the clubs.

In 1998, NESYFC ran a five day retreat at Carbisdale Castle Youth Hostel in the Highlands for Rock Solid clubs in the North East. This was a very successful week of games, prayer, crafts, talk, singing, a visit to Inverness, and fun. Rock Solid have since returned to Carbisdale and also been to Moffat and Badenoch near Aviemore. Now several Rock Solid clubs have run their own retreats. NESYFC can help your club to organise one either on its own or in conjunction with another club.

Additionally, NESYFC organises a "Summer Spectacular"; a day once a year in the summer for clubs to come together and enjoy themselves. This is a number of games and other activities that are held outdoors if possible. One club take responsibility for organising the event, with help from us. Previously this has been held at New Deer, Turriff and Oldmachar.

Rock solid costs £20 per month. This pays for the material and its ongoing development, and also for the wider work of YFC and NESYFC in this area, in addition to training on site and reduced cost at YFC training days. If you feel this too much for your church please get in touch anyway and we'll try to work something out.
