Our Principles and Mission

Our Core Principles

Taking Good News relevantly to every young person in North East Scotland

We’re about seeing young people’s lives changed by Jesus.

How do we see young people’s lives change?

By showing Jesus in a way that is relevant to every young person in North East Scotland.

In places like schools, churches and local communities, using sport, music, the arts and so much more!

Our Mandate

The mission of North East Scotland Youth for Christ is taken from the mandate given by Jesus to his disciples as recorded in the Bible:

Matthew 28:19 – Go into all the world and make disciples

Mark 16:15 – Go into all the world and preach the Gospel

John 20:21 – As the Father has sent me I therefore send you

Acts: 1:8 – You will be my witnesses in all of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the rest of the world.

It is further supported through Paul who in Romans 1:16 states “I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of those who believe” and in Romans 10:14 where Paul asks the question “How will they know if no one tells them?”

Therefore, North East Scotland Youth for Christ are commissioned to be people who take Good News relevantly to every young person in North East Scotland.

We demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him and disciple young people to live their lives to the full. We refer to these as the 4Ds.

Our Mission

  • We believe that every young person in North East Scotland has a purpose and deserves the absolute best.
  • Our mission, is twofold:
    • To take the Good News of Jesus Christ to young people in North East Scotland in a way which is relevant to the life issues they face, and showing them how it can change their lives for the better.
    • To provide resources and personnel to work directly with young people to support and encourage them in tackling the life issues and struggles they face.
  • Our main focus for the last few years has been in the Tillydrone area of Aberdeen, working in the local schools and neighbourhood, in partnership with other charities and churches.
  • We do however have a vision to further develop our ministry’s mission within the wider area of North East Scotland; to help churches in rural areas work together to overcome the difficulties of youth work in a rural setting, particularly in running dedicated youth events.
  • We aim to nurture, train and equip our volunteers and young leaders to help them grow in their faith, take an increasingly active role for Christ, empowering them to share the Good News with others.
  • We aim to build on existing Christian youth work in partnership with churches and secular bodies, equipping their volunteers with the resources, training and encouragement to help them share the gospel relevantly. To demonstrate God's love and power through our words, works and actions.
