Deep Impact 2005

Announcing Deep Impact 2005 - A youth leader training weekend run by YFC which runs from 14-16 January 2005 at Aviemore Highland Resort.

Deep Impact 2005 is about resourcing the church, by working with you, the leaders who are in contact with young people. It is about mission and discipleship to the masses of young people who are not in a relationship with Jesus.

For Deep Impact 2005, we believe that humility is key. If we are honest, we have to ask the question, ‘is what we are doing really working?’ So rather than radiating a false confidence when the reality is otherwise, Deep Impact 2005 is about us coming to learn, discover and struggle together. Less of wrapping it all up, more of a journey with a God of revelation. …

In essence Deep Impact 2005 is about…
  • Enabling more effective contact and engagement with those young people who are both inside and outside what is traditionally perceived as our church catchment. But noting that Jesus worked in the temple and out of it, in the grave and out of it, in the boat and out of it. Our traditional confines don’t confine God at all.
  • A deeper understanding of youth culture and its implications for the style of operation of youth ministry. Culture is like a kaleidoscope. Every time someone shakes it or even gives it a tiny twist, the images change… never to return to the shape they were in. And what of ministry?
A deeper understanding of the nature and state of the Church and its potential interplay with young people. Asked what he did for a living, one man routinely replied: ‘I’m an ordained plumber.’ Perhaps we could refer to ourselves as ‘the lost’ and the people formerly known as the ‘lost’ should be referred to as ‘people God treasures.’ Go and read the three ‘lost’ parables of Luke 15! Just a suggestion.
