The Christmas period went well, overall. Most events were able to go ahead as planned, although were socially distanced, due to the COVID 19 increase. Last month.. Illuminate got to take a trip to the Cinema. This was well attended and every YP received a small present that was enjoyed. All the usual groups started back, following Christmas, with numbers slightly low, as is typical at the start of most years. This was a nice opportunity for Steven, the YP that MJH has 1 to 1 sessions with to ask more questions, he still is very keen to hear about The Scriptures.

Youth Drop in has seen an increase in numbers recently. A new group of youngsters, who might be from Poland, have moved to the area and are bringing a lot of life and questions to the group.

Plans for a club at lunchtime to offer food, over the Easter holidays, to youngsters who would normally eat a main meal at school and not at home, are underway. We hope to see the return of this soon!

Update from Matthew on front end youth work and what is being planned in the lead up to Christmas holidays.

Christmas outing has been arranged for December and the young people who were at the weekend away earlier in the year are excited to get together again.

A Christmas party has been arranged with the slightly younger children, they have had a high attendance since September and they are keen to get involved on Sunday mornings.

Illuminate is having good discussions and the children there are keen to listen and take part as well.

Young adults have kept the same group this term and they continue to have good numbers. One-to-one is showing good progress and has lead to good discussions.

Riverbank are on hold with restart of SU. The head teacher was waiting to get more consent forms back, so that the group can get started. Football is restarting next week and the interest has been good. SU will be busy, with 3 groups running back to back in the lunch time.

Radiate has been mainly girls attending. They have never heard the gospel before, so it’s great that they keep coming back.

Illuminate is going well too. A bigger group of mixed young people are focussed and keep attending, so this is promising.

Youth drop in is getting good numbers and is creating good witness opportunities with the young people who are mostly coming regularly.

One to one is going well and continues to keep Matthew busy.

The weekend away with the young people was very encouraging in October. The young people are listening well despite initial issues with a few young people. A good mix of nationalities was there.

Schools work is getting back to more of what we’d hope.

TLG not certain when retarting at the moment.

This has been the busiest 3 weeks since the Pandemic started.

The Cage is now off the ground., it was back out on a Friday night in August, with 20 people coming down. Since this night, it has been successful with around 40 people coming.

A new girl came down to the youth drop in and has since been coming to the Illuminate each week, she is really keen and is enjoying the groups.

Each group has been going well, with lots of new children from the drop in and the cage events. Radiate was especially well attended by 20 children from the cage event that was held the week before.

School Pastors at St. Machar is back on and the young people have attended at the school after recognising the YFC events around Tillydrone.
